Sovereignty And Morality Assignment Help

Sovereignty And Morality Assignment HelpIntroduction

Practically sovereignty means having complete authority over a specific geographic area and does not refer to just authority beyond the reach of law. Rather it ensures sovereign equality through any reciprocal means of recognition that each member of international legal order refer to one another.

Although the pronouncements of international order with reference to sovereignty of each member can be traced back to 1648 peace of Westphalia. Legal implications of such sovereignty have been found to be varying markedly from era to era. State sovereign includes the idea that all states are equal, irrespective of its size or financial capability or any such factors and confers equal rights to function as specific states and make decisions about their territory.

Industrial Relationship

However globalization has changed this very view of sovereignty by creating an open market for trading and creating a common platform. Specific issues that are bound to specific territories may be considered to be a concern to other regions also. Similarly morality is the differentiation of various intentions and actions between those that are right and wrong. The basic philosophy of morality is ethics. Morality plays an important role in international relations though critics argue its role to be very minimal .Moral arguments have been found to have  a general effect on industrial relations even if its norms may not be universal (De Casadevante & Romani, 2007).

A state sovereign is viewed as a juridical entity of legal system which is non physical and is represented by central government. Such states have complete independent authority over a specific geographic area. A sovereign state is considered to be state with permanent population and a government and states that can enter into any trade relations with any other sovereign state.  It is also possible for a sovereign state to remain unrecognized by other sovereign states although it may be difficult for them to exercise any treaty or policy.

Growth of Globalization

Globalization is not something that has been created recently or is a mere existence of today or tomorrow. The meaning of globalization has changed along with growth of globalization. Globalization today is a system in which neither distance nor borders effects the way it works. There is no pr very little barrier that exists in trading between different countries.

But it is also important to consider various factors that are associated with globalization. It is important to consider the social, political and cultural considerations and interdependency of different states. It takes into consideration different people and their culture and the way it affects the process of globalization.

On the contrary to globalization is state sovereignty were the state has its own ability to make and implement different policies without the help or interference of any external power. A sovereign state does not acknowledge any one above itself and considers its authority as the highest authority. So a state can either be sovereign or not (Zito & Barlow, 1998).

There has been a lot of debate on whether globalization affects state sovereignty or not. And thus highlights whether sovereignty has any substantial importance in this era of globalization. Two distinct arguments are presented in this paper. One has a pessimistic approach and other has an optimistic approach. The pessimistic approach given by Ohame and Scholte argue that globalization gives rise to demise of sovereignty.

It says that globalization interferes in the way government controls functions of its own territory. While the optimistic approach presented by the skeptics disagrees to this fact by emphasizing the continuing importance of states in politics. States remain the main agent in shaping today’s world order (Rasch, 1949).

Considering the pessimistic approach it is seen that globalization is speeding up and widening day by day. This fast growth has created a deep impact worldwide. This impact has become quite evident from the point of view of economy and culture. The depth and velocity of globalization is slowly dissolving the importance of borders and boundaries.

It agrees that globalization is affecting the importance of sovereign state and thus presents a view which is cohesive to the issue. It can be seen that whether it is considered as a choice or a binding it ensures that the states abides to these international laws. Another aspect is the focus on global structures and process making which ensures a complete central process.

This kind of central process hampers the supreme legitimacy of sovereign states. Moreover this centralization of rules and processes creates a system which is dependent on each other for its existence which affects the most important principle of sovereign nations. Not only in political way but there is also cultural factors involved in such processes encouraging exchange and adoption of culture, religion and ideas. However skeptics have argued that globalization has not affected the existence or functioning of sovereign states.

It states that nothing can be made or implemented without mutual consent of different territories So all rules or policies imposed are well discussed considered and signed by all states before implementing. Thus such mutual agreement helps states to function properly and efficiently and also brings about consistency in procedures. Thus a contrasting view is observed.

However it is mostly observed that sovereignty today is facing a lot of threats due to globalization. International courts and organizations are seeking to reshape the system.  Nations presumably give up their sovereignty and are governed by global census. Transnational organizations are taking place of sovereign nations and rejecting the concept of sovereignty. Thus it can be seen that the moral importance of state sovereignty is diminishing in global economy. Although some argue that the system of sovereignty has been maintained and respected its importance in the global era is found to be vanishing (Major, 2011).Order Now
